Rhonda Rowe – Life Member

Life Membership Conferred 2021

Rhonda has been an active participant at Fawkner Park since 2003

Rhonda, prior to finding her way to Fawkner Park has been involved in softball since 1964, over time missing the occasional year.  Due to work commitments, her name frequents softball records in New South Wales, Northern Territory, South Australia and Tasmania.  Rhonda’s move to Victoria saw her join Keilor Park and District Association in 1998 ahead of clearing to Melbourne in 2003.

Rhonda Rowe has served softball throughout Australia since 1964 and particularly the Melbourne Softball Association very creditably for more than thirteen years in a variety of roles including

  • MSA Executive Committee – Acting Secretary 2010 – 2012
  • An active member of the umpiring group, both on the diamond and as Umpiring Coordinator.  More recently as a senior member assisting as a trainer for umpires.
  •  Active hands-on member assisting at events or activities MSA has hosted or been involved with such as
      •  fulfilling the role of a selector of Melbourne representative teams
      •  representing Melbourne as an umpire at State Championships

In 2008 Rhonda was awarded the MSA, now Duyvestyn, Service Award for service to softball at Fawkner Park and that award is now supplemented with this Life Membership. In 2010 Softball Victoria recognised her contribution to softball by presenting her with the Merle Short Service Award.

Rhonda has been a great ambassador for our sport and MSA.  Rhonda has involved herself as a player, coach, umpire, and administrator covering all age groups, open, junior and masters.

Melbourne Softball is honoured to have Rhonda Rowe as a member of our Association.  We believe Melbourne Softball Association and our members have benefited greatly from Rhonda’s commitment and contribution to softball at Fawkner Park.

The MSA Executive Committee recommends Rhonda Rowe be awarded Life Membership of Melbourne Softball Association.
