Slowpitch Leagues

Summer Slowpitch Leagues

We conduct a recreational slowpitch (modified softball) mixed-gender competition over summer daylight savings time. Teams select a preferred night (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings) and play on that night each week. The focus is on fun, friendships and well being in an enjoyed relaxed environment.

You will find an abridged version of slowpitch rules here but basically, slowpitch is true fastpitch softball modified to enable players of all ages, abilities and skill levels to enjoy a fun game. The variances are mainly in the pitching style and base running. The social nature of the league is such that teams do not train other than a warm-up session prior to their scheduled game.

Melbourne Softball is now linked to the national softball database. The system requires all participants to register prior to participating for their first time each year (the year being July to June), and such registration will not be accepted without payment of the National Membership fee which includes insurance cover for personal accident and public liability. Melbourne Softball shall charge a team entry fee of $885.00 to cover ground hire, equipment, umpires, administration etc

The system will issue every individual a unique identification number (SOFTBALL ID) and you will need to use this number at the time of any future involvement in softball of any sort anywhere in Australia. This number will remain the same and does not change from year to year so make note of it for future reference.

The first games commence in the second week of November and conclude mid-March with a short break over Christmas/New Year. Games are scheduled to commence each week at 6.45 pm and teams assemble at approx 6.15 pm at the Northern Pavilion (our clubrooms) in Fawkner Park.

If you would like further information please don't hesitate to contact us via our Enquiry Form  or if you're ready to play you can register via our Online Registration portal
