Even though the Slow Pitch season is now under way

Even though the Slow Pitch season is now under way, we’re still in need of more umpires as well as female players to ensure games can be played. Some teams are currently struggling to get their teams on the park. Beginners are very welcome too.

With regards to the umpiring, no experience is necessary, you can learn as you go. Good $$ available also.

SLOWPITCH REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW OPEN

After what seems like a never-ending litany of issues with getting Melbourne onto the national database we've finally cleared the last hurdle and are happy to announce that registrations are now open!

But, and there is always a but, things are very different to how we have been running slowpitch over the last couple of decades in regards to registration and the associated fees.

You will now be required to pay a fee at the time of registration. This fee is collected directly by the state and national bodies to cover your insurance and will be ~$67 for the full season.

Team fees still need to be paid to Melbourne and these will be collected by your team manager.
Melbourne has reduced the team fee to $885 per team (down from $1400) to help offset this so as players you shouldn't be paying too much more than you have in previous years.

The other major difference is the presence of a SOFTBALL ID. If you played at Melbourne anytime between 2018 and 2022 you were allocated this ID (which is where most of the issues we were experiencing were occurring). You will need this ID number to register for the upcoming season.
Every member with an ID was emailed earlier today and a copy of their number was included in the mailout. Please check your spam/junk boxes or any other email addresses that may have been in use when you first registered. If you no longer have access to that email drop us a line and we can help you.

If you've never played it's simple, hit the new member button on the registration form and go from there.

If you have any issues at all with registration, be it unclear instructions from our end (tried my very best to make it clear but it can be complicated, even for us) or technical problems at yours don't hesitate to get in touch.

Don't pay any fee more than once, and screenshots are always helpful if you do need assistance.

SLOWPITCH 2022/23 - IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We've had seasons impacted by fires, pandemics and now floods.
I'm expecting a horde of locusts next season, to be honest...

All team contacts have been emailed with this information but we do like to make sure it hits as many people as possible.

The diamonds at Fawkner Park, like many parts of the state, are pretty soggy and waterlogged. As such the City of Melbourne have requested that all activities are postponed.

While there are some of you who are used to the mud at Fawkner Park during our winter comp many of our summer participants are not and we're very mindful of our duty of care to our members.

As such the start of the 2022/23 season will now be Tuesday, November 15th, with our Come and Try now scheduled for Wednesday, November 9th.

Registrations will open shortly ( feel like we've been saying that for weeks now!) and we thank you for your patience. The boring technical answer is that the issues have come about from the requirement for all competitions at Melbourne to now be on the national registration system and there have been some teething problems arising as we try and incorporate old and new data.

Another season done and dusted, culminated by a magnificent day of softball in beautiful Fawkner Park.
