Life Member – Scott Rutherford

Scott Rutherford – Life Membership 2017

Scott commenced his involvement with softball at Fawkner Park in 1990 as a team named umpire and later coach with Bears Club where he took the team to the 1996 B Grade premiership.  He then resigned from his positions to move his priorities to his young family.

He has been an active participant at Fawkner Park since his return in 2008, focussing his involvement as an umpire.

Scott has served the Melbourne Softball Association very creditably as an independent umpire for ten years:

  • 2008 – current        MSA umpire
  • 2010 – current        MSA Umpires Coordinator
  • 2008 – current       MSA representative at State Championships and state and interstate events

Scott’s role as Umpire Coordinator has entailed rostering umpires for all fastpitch games at Fawkner Park.  He has also supported his team of umpires in their development and overseen the training of umpires as they move thru the accreditation system.

Scott attained his Level 2 umpire accreditation in 2008 and in 2010 Scott was awarded the MSA Service Award for service to softball at Fawkner Park. That award is now supplemented with this Life Membership.

Melbourne Softball is honoured to have Scott Rutherford as a member of our Association.  We believe Melbourne Softball Association and our members have benefited greatly from Scott’s commitment and contribution to softball at Fawkner Park
