Now that the dust has settled, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has played their part in another successful season of Slowpitch

We have a small, but very dedicated, band of volunteers without whom the competition would not proceed. It is no mean feat to get 400+ participants on the diamond week in and week out and there are a lot of behind the scenes work that goes on to ensure the competition runs without a hitch…most of the time.

Special thanks to our Competition Manager Elaine Duyvestyn, our coordinators Nol Duyvestyn and Poppy Bouhalis and of course not forgetting our merry band of umpires. Thanks also to the Executive of Melbourne Softball for their continued support.

Congratulations to all our league winners this year

Tuesday: Drop Bears

Wednesday: Monkeys

Thursday: Battlers

They along with Ball Busters competed in our Great Grand Final day on Sunday, March 18th. The day commenced at Fawkner Park with an elimination playoff which saw  The Drop Bears pitted against second chance team Ball Busters. Drop Bears winning the game 13-9.

The second game of the playoffs was between  Monkeys and The Battlers. Both teams have their names engraved on the Champions trophy numerous times, but today Monkeys proved far too strong defeating The Battlers 27-7.

Monkeys were crowned eventual winners in a hard fought final 11-8 game against the Drop Bears.

Last but not least, a thank you to you, our players. You are the reason we run the competition, and we trust that once again you’ve enjoyed your time in the park and we look forward to seeing you all again come November 2018.
