NAIDOC EVENT – Slowpitch Softball Game

Melbourne Softball Association is pleased to support the NAIDOC Slowpitch event to be held on July 26th.

NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920′s which sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Indigenous Australians.

NAIDOC Week is held in the first full week of July. It is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an opportunity to recognise the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and our society. For more information head to the website: NAIDOC

We encourage members of our Fawkner Park softball community to support and assist the organisers of this event.

Interested in being involved on the day? Please email your expression of interest to Poppy Bouhalis. Her details can be found on the flyer below.

NAIDOC Week 2014 Celebrations

IMG_7147Melbourne turned the weather on Sunday giving those in the park for the NAIDOC Slowpitch game a beautiful morning in which to get a hit on the diamond.

Thanks to all of those who turned up to play or to offer their support from the sidelines, and extra thanks to Poppy for getting the BBQ fired up and cooking and for the delicious custard pie.

Photos of the game can be found on our Facebook page.
