Working with Children Check

Please be reminded that all coaches are required to hold a valid WWCC if they are involved with club members under the age of 18.

Renewal has now been made easier as from  early April 2014,cardholders who are required to renew their WWC Check will no longer need to go to Australia Post to lodge a paper form and present their current card. From this time, cardholders will go to the WWC Check website to complete their renewal application online.

Those wishing to apply for the first time can also lodge their application on line.

2013/14 Slowpitch Playoff results

playoffs and premiership final games to be played Sunday 16 March 2014 at Fawkner Park.


Wednesday March 12th saw League grand finals played, won and lost on what was a damp evening at Fawkner Park.

Tuesday League saw newcomers, Let’s Get Ridiculous defeat stalwarts Red Devils with a final score line 11-6. In the Wednesday League Dirty Pitchers lost to their nemesis Monkeys 8-10. And in Thursday League Battlers were, on the day, too strong for Red Devils 27-3.

Let’s Get Ridiculous, Monkeys and Battlers go thru to the Premiership playoffs along with the best of the League final losers, Dirty Pitchers. Playoffs will be played commencing at 12.30pm followed at 2.30pm by the winner of each playoff competing for the League Premiership. Trophies will be presented immediately following the conclusion of the Great Grand Final.

Melbourne Softball congratulates LET’S GET RIDICULOUS, MONKEYS, BATTLERS and DIRTY PITCHERS and all teams who have participated in the 2013/14 Slowpitch competition.

Members of the Fawkner Park softball community and in particular all teams who have played in this season’s leagues, family and friends are invited to come down to the park and watch the games. Melbourne Softball Association will provide a BBQ for everyone in attendance to be held in between the two finals time slots. Drinks will be available for purchase.

Come ‘n Try Softball

IMG_1086The City of Melbourne through its Active Melbourne program is running a Festival of Fitness to attract new participants and to reconnect people to exercise in an enjoyable and fun way. Activities will be scheduled around the major city parks along with our local Recreational centres based in Carton, Kensington, City as well as North Melbourne.

Melbourne Softball is pleased to announce we will be involved along with other community sporting organisations to showcase our sport in a come ‘n try a new activity program which will be free to the public.

The festival will be held from 26-29 March 2014 and SOFTBALL at Fawkner Park will feature on Thursday 27 March from 5.30 to 7.30 pm and again on Saturday 29 March from 10 am to noon.

Females and males of all ages will be warmly welcomed at Fawkner Park with a variety of activities planned to ensure everyone has an enjoyable and fun time.  There will also be an opportunity to sign up to join in competitions and programs offered by Melbourne Softball commencing on the first Sunday of May.

Corporate Slowpitch Finals

Melboicndexurne Softball’s CORPORATE SLOWPITCH competition has commenced the finals series. Games at Fawkner Park this week have been semi-finals for each of the leagues.

Tuesday League saw newcomers to the league and ladder leader Let’s Get Ridiculous win strongly over stalwarts Oilers 32-5.  Minor semi was a closely fought game with Red Devils winning over Half Nelsons 21-19.

Wednesday League had top two teams Dirty Pitchers and Monkeys meet in an exciting game.  Dirty Pitchers winning 7-5  to go straight thru to the grand final.  Monkeys will take the second chance to play Flaming Beacons who put Hardballs out of the finals with a score line of 23-9.

Thursday League saw ladder leaders Battlers soundly defeat Red Devils 25-7 and minor finalists Degenerates defeat Dutch Dom & the Rudders 12-9.

League preliminary finals are scheduled to be played on Tuesday 11 March commencing at 6.45pm and will be followed on Wednesday 12 March by the League grand finals.  Winners of each League’s grand finals shall play off for the competition premier on Sunday 16 March with games at 12.30pm and 2.30pm.

Umpires gain Level 2 Accreditation

2014 Edebone-Weber Shield

The dust has settled in Auckland and after four days of tough competition QLD Heat have defeated the NSW Firestars 6-2 to take out the Edebone Weber Shield.

The VIC Titans finished up fourth with a 6-3 win:loss ratio.
