A few hardy souls from the MSA braved the chill and the pre dawn start to fly the flag at the 2014 Mother’s Day Classic as part of an Active Melbourne initiative to help Melbournians become and stay more active.A fantastic morning was had by everyone and we all had a blast promoting the great game of softball to those in the park.
Even the stilt walkers couldn’t resist the temptation of hitting a wiffle ball. Mind you, his grip did need a bit of work.
Tony and Poppy had the kids throwing balls and swinging bats like a pro and judging from the many smiling faces I’m pretty sure everyone left feeling pretty happy.
The Victorian school girls team has had a successful competition at Blacktown over the last week, taking out a Bronze medal.
Natasha Holt from MSA side Red Devils was named Victorian MVP. She, along with Narisse Privitera, who is also another rising Red Devil were also selected for the Australian team to tour Hawaii later in the year.
They, along with Kylie Steemers and Meaghan Grah, have been competing with the Red Devils at Fawkner Park for many years now and we are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing them develop their skills further in the coming years.
This week marks the 25th anniversary of National Volunteer Week and the MSA would like to offer their thanks to all those who give their time freely to the Association and their clubs.
Without the help of such volunteers we would be unable to sustain the vibrant community and competition we have at Fawkner Park and as such we are appreciative of all the time and work that goes into keeping the competition sustainable and fun for all.
Sincere appreciation is extended to all those who volunteer their time for softball at Fawkner Park…
We should all give thanks, not just this week but every week, for their commitment and dedication and for the time and effort they put into their role
